Saving...
to get started on the War Years soon. Friday May 22 Managed to get by the U track exam in the link and thus qualify to start work with the radio beam. Still don't like to fly in the Link - it reacts like a mechanical toy rather than an airplane. Had an enthusiastic letter from Ben telling me of his being tapped for Cardinal Key. How wonderful this spring has been for him. I am so glad - he has worked awfully hard. Saturday - May 23 Had my first hop in an SNJ-3 today. It felt good to get into the air again - and what a fine ship it was. Got along pretty well, but really didn't do much. Once again I have been fortunate in getting an instructor who has been to the fleet and has had lots of experience. His name is Coffman (Lt. j.g.) and a mighty fine gent. Soft spoken, patient, 100% for the student. Bob and I went out for dinner having finally received our whites. We ate at a little place called Martines
