former end at Minn. dropped up to the room after supper for a chat. Seemed like a fine fellow. Wed - June 3 Some guy by the name of Hopkins substituted for my regular instructor this morning. Man, was he a wrong guy! - whacked off all the time & wouldn't keep his feet of the rudder pedals nor his hands off the stick. I flew the worst flight of any time since I came down here. Bob, Ken & I went out to Martines for supper. The longer I eat at the cadet mess the greater desire for good food I get - and Martines meets that desire perfectly. I check tomorrow - and will be glad to get out of there. Thurs - June 4 Checked successfully this morning - not too good a flight but passable considering the weather. There was a strong wind, rain, & clouds. Appeared before the Marine Selection Board after supper. Really thought that
