met the folks at the Iowa State graduation ceremonies. He spoke very highly of them which made me quite proud. Also he mentioned sitting across from Ben at a Cardinal Key banquet. He is a good gent - I think the family must have enjoyed meeting him. Tues - June 9 Soloed for three hours in an SNV this morning. The ceiling was never higher than 1000'. It was a new experience soloing under such conditions. Got along ok, however. In the afternoon I got a cockpit checkout in an OS2U. Will have an hop in one of them tomorrow. Wednesday - June 10 Had an hour of dual, then a period of solo in an OS2U today. Can't say that I am particularly enthused about the plane. Prefer the SNV many times over. Understand they are still using some of these old OS2Us in the fleet. What a crime - I'm glad I got fighters. Took a bunch of the boys to town with me after secure. I then drove out to the base, picked up Bob, & Ken and we went to Martines for supper. Ken had tough
