luck in the low pressure chamber getting "bends" at 37,000! He will probably get VO-VS now that he has been eliminated from the possibility of fighter training. Thursday - June 11 This morning's paper quotes MacArthur as saying that the United Nation fighting forces would soon be moving north, and there is continued talk of an invasion of the European continent. I wonder if this is all talk or whether we are actually ready to move. The worst of the war will be fought this summer in all probability. A precipitous end to it all is not an impossibility, but I should certainly be personally opposed to anything smacking of a peace short of complete victory. Really think, still, that next year is when we really will get in gear, finishing up the job in 1943. Read a couple of articles in the Sat. Eve Post by a wealthy U.S. merchant who escaped from the Japs after capture at Hong Kong where he was at the time. He paints them a blood thirsty, heartless lot. Some of his stories sound almost incredible, but they are true, I fear.
