Thursday - July 2 Our runway observation tour was canceled this morning. Had our first taste of the athletic program on this station which includes everything from swimming to hand to hand combat. All ok if not overdone. Looks like a good program even though it lasts for over an hour each day. We had swim test at 11 AM. Had to stay afloat (could move arms & legs) for five minutes without a rest. Sounds simple, but I found that 5 minutes can be an awfully long time. In the afternoon I managed to check out of blinker leaving radio sending & receiving, semaphore ditto, & radio procedure. We had a tower observation tour about three oclock. Friday - July 3 Listened to some more lectures on course rules, characteristics of the S. N. J . airplanes, passed a semaphore receiving check-out quiz - and did a lot of sitting around. Should start flying on Sunday.
