Monday - July 13 Final check in ABC formation work and also in acrobatics. Got by both ok though not in a very imposing manner. My flirtation with mediocrity in flying the past month or so has settled into something more permanent. Am not discouraged with my progress, but it isn't quite as sharp as it might be. However, it may be just as well to proceed at this gait. Certainly, it is easier on the nerves and energy. Tuesday - July 14 Bastille day in France - note by the evening news reports that they kicked up a little excitement for the Nazis just to prove the spirit of the French Revo. still flames. No flying today - have to wait awhile before starting gunnery. Read at length & finally finished the biography of Theo. Roosevelt by Pringle. Don't believe U. Chas. in his devotion to T.R. would think much of the presentation. Not having read much about the "Trust Buster" I don't know just what to think. Pringle
