days. If Rostov hasn't already fallen, it looks like it would at any moment. What a grim prospect is ahead of us. Sat - July 25 The officer who was to be our chase pilot was forced down out in the area just before our hop so it was canceled. Understand he made a nice landing on the highway. Finished up night flying including a simple, 40 minute cross country flight. Am 300 pages into "War & Peace" now. Find it very good, but oh so long. Sun - July 26 Managed to get 4 hits on my gunnery run today which isn't too good but, nonetheless was high in our group. We have more time in which I am going to really do my best. If I get quite a few hits I think I'll ask for fighters. Bob was in the room after supper. He and Marvin argued politics with some force. Bob can express himself with considerably logic in opposition to the present administration.
