Saving...
Was able to get an "A" gas rationing card with a minimum of trouble. It will give me 4 gal. a week which will meet my needs quite nicely. In the late afternoon saw a putrid show & returned to the base. Wed - July 29 Last gunnery run today - I towed. Marvin got 11 hits which makes him a fighter pilot for certain. I also put in for fighters, but doubt if I get them. Wrote a couple of letters after supper. The Germans roll on - the prospect is sure grim - and all the while continues Allied speculation about a second front. Thursday - July 30 By golly I got fighters and now find myself very glad that such is the case. Must really bear down from here on out & become just as skillful as possible. Flight two had a little get together at the Officers club for supper. A rollicking good time was had by all.
