Friday - July 31 No flying today - still waiting for flight #3 to finish up gunnery, then we shall join with them to makeup our fighter flight. Picked up my uniforms at the supply dep't where they had been lying for several days. Total cost equals $217 & they didn't fit too well either - this uniform racket is scandalous. Wrote a long letter home after supper, also got one off to Tait Cummins. The Russians are stiffening their resistance again, and the RAF is bombing German industrial centers about every night. Hope this combination will do the trick, for I fear we aren't really ready for an invasion of this continent. Sat. - Aug 1 Still waiting to get our fighter flight started. This all too frequent waiting around is tiresome & annoying. Surely we shall fly tomorrow. Had a very enjoyable chat with a boy from New Zealand who was quite interested in American football.
