104 that he was well acquainted with the names of our good teams & players. Shall look forward to becoming better acquainted with him. He is a nice looking chap, well built, & resembles Ted in the face a great deal. Don't know his name yet. Sun - Aug 2 Mon - Aug 3 Still no flights for fighter class #2. Wait, wait, that is all I've done since coming into the Navy. At this rate I won't get home before Xmas. Had the duty as mate of the deck on Mon. Managed to read quite a bit in War & Peace. Tues - Aug 4 We flew four hours this morning, one right after the other. This is more like it. Went out to Jim Carroll's for supper, then down to the Patrician, it being my night off. Wed - Aug 5 The tireman having ruined my tire I stopped in to see if he hadn't gotten me another yet. He had, a pretty fair one, & charged me only 3. Left
