Thursday - Aug 6 Just one hop - but it went pretty well. If we don't start getting more than one hour a day we won't ever get out of here. Had a surprise telephone call from King Clarke about seven oclock this evening. He has been transferred to Camp Murphy about 100 miles north of here. Hope we can get together for a visit before long. Friday - Aug 7 Rec'd a note from Mrs. Jack Riley (formerly Mary McHugh of Soo City) asking me to look them up. Jack is connected with the FBI & now stationed here in Miami. It will be good to see some Iowa people once again. Spent two hours on six plane division work. We got a long pretty well. Wrote several letters after supper. Have now finished Tolstoy's monumental work War & Peace. Found it enjoyable throughout its 1300 odd pages. His range of interest and knowledge seem illimitable, and he can so simply describe a
