Tues - Aug 18 Haven't written a line in here for almost a week. Had almost forgotten it altogether. Finished up combat work. A checkout in Brewsters next. Wednesday - Aug.19 Lecture on the F2A airplane which under 10,000 feet will perform pretty well with the F4F. An half day of this awful ground school as per usual. Thursday - Aug 20. A cockpit checkout in the Brewster, then we shot landings for half an hour. Drove up to W. P. Beach to meet King & Mary Jane, it being my night off. We had dinner together in the air conditioned dining room of the Geo. Washington hotel, then visited till 12:30 when King had to head back to camp. Friday - Aug. 21. More landings in F2A & familiarization air work. Chandelles & loops easy but a slow roll awfully hard.
