Thursday - Dec. 4, 1941 Kansas City - Kans. Fairfax Airport Ken Pettit stayed all night with me last night in Omaha and rode down here with me today. We left Omaha about 7:15AM and arrived at Fairfax Airport about noon. Our conversation en route bespoke a mutual enthusiasm for this new experience. Getting situated here was very similar to registration day at the University. We had to report to the Chief Petty Officer with our orders and get a student check-off list, which was nothing but a list of things which we had to do before attending class. Unhappily, we will be living out of our suitcases until next Tuesday. It seems the graduating class won't leave for the Southland until that time which means no lockers for some of us for a few days. As a matter of fact, we won't have regular bunks until Tuesday either. At present we lay our carcass on temporary cots. You should see my uniform! The pants were five inches too long, and
