the most outstanding player in the Missouri Valley & Big Six Conference. This year the trophy went to Bob Stueber of Missouri U. The rules committee was meeting this weekend, also, so there were coaches, officials, newspaper & radio men from all over this area. I saw many, many old acquaintances and met almost as many more new men. There is no better group than a gathering of men connected with college athletics. Sunday, Dec. 7, 1941 Attended services at 1st church at 9th & Forest on the East side. News of Japan's unprovoked attack on Pearl Harbor came over the radio about three oclock. About a third of us were lounging around the barracks. Everybody accepted it quite unemotionally, seemingly more interested in whether liberties would be curtailed than whether the U.S. could retaliate effectively. Must confess that my own feelings were somewhat similar to the rest. However, I wish my training were already over, & I was
