ready to go. I am torn between a desire not to miss out on anything, and a feeling that I am better off here. We saw Sally Rand put on her bubble & fan dance at the Towers Theatre tonight. Can't recommend it very highly. Doesn't begin to compare with Gypsy Rose Lee's performance at the Worlds Fair in New York. The latter's act bordered on the artistic it was so cleverly done. That is heresy coming from a moral man, but, nonetheless, true. Monday, Dec. 8, 1941 I was assigned to barrack patrol duty this morning. It is the easiest detail possible; gave me an opportunity to read Life's report on the Navy & to write a long letter to Bill Stuart. Between 9 & 10 I was relieved by another man while my section heard a lecture on the use & care of a parachute. Very completely, & humorously, presented by an enlisted man. In the afternoon we drilled for an hour, then went to radio class, next to trig class, & finally heard a lecture on radio instrument. Enjoyed
