complete distaste for R.O.T.C. my first two years at Iowa. Radio went much better today. Should get the hang of it before long. Finished up my first article for the Register & Tribune at noon today. Took it into Col. Peters for censoring about 4 oclock. He expressed satisfaction with it, saying it was well writen. My hope now is that MacDonald, managing editor of the Register, will see fit to print it. Inspection of base personnel is scheduled for tomorrow so Ken & I went to town for haircut. As a matter of economy we headed for the barber college on 9th & Main. It was some experience. I never saw, or felt, such laborious indecision. He, the barber, reminded me of my early days in the school carpenter shop trying to plane a walnut board down level. Just as I would get one end to looking pretty good I would discover that I had neglected the other end. So it was with this young student in the barber college. I hardly need add that he didn't come out even. I wear my cap whenever possible although it is far from a flattering top-piece. When he started to shave over my ears &
