Saving...
At seven oclock Ken & I called at the Penn-Marshall ap'ts on the south side for our dates. Katie Smith, the girl I escorted, was very much alright. Had a good time but it was a ten oclock night which made it all too brief. Have another date for Sun. night. Pettet didn't fare quite so well. I feel a bit guilty for the subtle ribbing I gave him back at the barracks afterward. Discovered that Pettet's flight instructor, Don Carvey, is from Rockhurst & was on the All-Star squad in Chicago at the same time I was. He, evidently, is a much better flyer than football player. While eating at the Hereford Grill prior to calling for Katie & her roommate I ran into Vern Anderson of the Register & Tribune. This is the second R & T. man I have seen down here during the past week. I wonder what their business is down this way. Snowed intermittently throughout the day accompanied by a high wind.
