Still haven't heard from the D. Moines Register. Sure would like to know whether they used my articles. Can't imagine what happened to Bob's letter that mother said she forwarded. Bob is probably wondering why in the hell I don't answer. Ken and I accepted an invitation to attend an Iowa alumnae gathering at Rockheath Inn for dinner at 7:15 P.M. There was quite a group on hand and rather full of Xmas cheer. We had a fine time and regretted leaving so early. The meal was excellent - fried chicken, sweet potatoes, green peas, biscuits, etc - it was wonderful. When I finished my plate was so full of chicken bones they could hardly carry it away. On the way back we got on the wrong road discovering it only after we were quite aways out of K.C. going the wrong way. Rockheath Inn was on the far eastern outskirts of town to begin with so that left us about 40 minutes to get back to the base on time. Feverishly we inquired directions, finally getting on the road that would take us downtown. I never engineered
