he bluntly told everyone to cut down on the smoking, avoid liquor, and shun the prostitutes. Naturally, I agree with his beliefs but moralizing to service men is pretty hard for anyone to get away with. Judging from what Cap't. Tomlinson said after Tunney finished, I gathered that he believed one of the reasons the Navy was caught napping at Pearl Harbor was because they were spending too much time on liquor & women and not enough on naval business. I should add that Tunney certainly makes a fine appearance. He is tall, broad and handsome with a very erect bearing. It is against my nature & inclination to indict a service with such a fine tradition as the U.S. Navy. But, by golly, I'm getting pretty disgusted with the red tape, inefficiency, and disorganization around this base. I am quite aware that it is a difficult situation, that the facilities are overcrowded, and that several of the officers are products of 90 day training and therefore aren't "up" on everything they should be. However, nobody around here seems
