Saving...
family, individually & collectively, faces troublesome situations without any display of emotion or self-pity. I could not help noticing, however, that father was more serious than I had ever seen him before, and that mother had tears in her eyes, when I bid them goodbye about 3 P.M. When I shall be able to get home again, I don't know. It will be interesting to see where I am located next Dec. 25th. We had to drive pretty slowly part of the way back to Kansas City. The highway between Omaha & Falls City, Nebr. was covered with four or five inches of slush & snow making it very slippery going. About dusk we we hit clear pavement and proceeded at a faster pace the rest of the way. And so ended my brief Xmas leave.
