Had my fifth hour of instruction this afternoon. It was bitter cold, the thermometer hanging around zero, so I wore a face mask which covered everything except my eyes. I looked like the Masked Marvel or the Sky Devil with this protective covering over my facial features, but it very effectively kept me warm. I did a miserable job the forepart of the hour. My goggles fogged over badly right after I took off, and after trying unsuccessfully to adjust them so they would stay clear I lifted them up on my forehead and finished the hour without them. Didn't think I had done very well, but in talking with my instructor afterwards he indicated that I was coming along quite well. Perhaps, in this experience as in most others previous to this my judgment of my performance will be under the evaluation given to it by others. It is nice to have it that way - fewer disappointments arise. Bob and I took in Duke Ellington's stage show at the Mainstreet after supper. Not very good entertainment and the
