And now my third hour of solo has passed. Again my performance was none too good - especially landings. But despite this I feel that I got the hang of it a little better. May have an hour & a half check coming up tomorrow so I had better have improved. It is some satisfaction to see that my Penn. R.R. stock has recovered just about what it lost when the war started. Friday Jan 16. This was a thoroughly good day all the way around. From the standpoint of my own performance and from that of what I learned, my hour and a half check with Bergen was the best yet. This check is given each student at the end of his first three hours of solo. Because my last two solo hours were none too sharp, I thought it wise to be very much on the ball for this check. Happily, I climbed out of the plane at the end of the period well satisfied. My emergencies air work, landings and take offs were
