After dinner Mrs. McKay and I attended a Christian Science lecture by Florence Middaugh while Merle went off to play practice. Miss Middaugh is an extremely tall woman, over six feet, I am sure, but nonetheless, graceful, poised, and of fine bearing. Her message was simple, straightforward and good. I am so glad I went. Saturday - Jan. 17. This was another very satisfactory day. I managed to take 8 words per minute again on the test that was given.In fact I got 76 characters in a row without an error. Although 8 wpm is the radio requirement for graduation from this base, I'll be disappointed if I don't take 10 wpm before I leave. My solo hour was more enjoyable than any other up to this time. I had more confidence and a better feel of my ship. My landings still weren't real good, but they are coming along. At 9 P.M. I met Bob Hogan at the R.R. station.
