Friday - Jan 23. A haze hung over the field most of the morning canceling all solos and checks, including Bob's. He will undoubtedly get his chance again tomorrow, however. The phys. ed. instructors have been giving strength tests to all students the past few days. I made my effort today with pretty satisfactory results, to wit, 8' 2" in the standing broad jump, 31 back levers, 16 chinups, and 40 pushups for a total of 354 points, 80 points higher than anyone else yet tested. How long my record will stand, I don't know, but the instructors seem to think it is a pretty good mark to shoot at. Section fifty was assigned two hours of field day this afternoon. I found that my position of Wing Commander relieved me of most of the routine work of this sort, for which I am most appreciative. We had company drill at 4 oclock. Can't say that I handled my duties as platoon commander with as much confidence and precision as I should have. However,
