Saving...
of my life. Being constantly on the go, getting cussed out frequently, keeping going when you're tired, none of these are novel experiences for a college football player. And am I glad I got my studies quite well as I went along! It is making things infinitely more easy for me now. I believe I have made some good friends among the enlisted men on the base, both in the ground school and flight office and on the line. Why, those fellows on the line really took care of me - offered me their gloves and overshoes on cold mornings when all the regular gear was checked out, helped me get the rudder pedals and safety belt adjusted on those 1st few hops, etc. The boys in the ground school were just as good to me in other ways. For some reason I value these acquaintances and friendships very highly. I take more pleasure in being recognized and helped by the enlisted men than by the officers.
