Saving...
Monday - Feb. 2. Bid mother goodbye at 9:45 AM, stopped at the F.L.B. to have my income tax report notarized and to have a last brief moment with father, then took off for Kansas City. It snowed last night and I found the first 80 miles or so pretty slippery. Down around Auburn I started to speed up a little and almost got hauled in front of a judge. As I passed through the middle of town I noticed a patrolman following me, and slowed down to a snails pace, but the damage had evidently already been done for he promptly signaled me to a stop. The list of ofenses he recited was quite awesome. It seems I passed him on a hill, was driving too fast for the conditions of the roads, passed the next car in an intersection, and was doing 40 through a 25 mph. zone. Following my usual procedure when so accosted I was meek as a lamb, repentant, and talked tenor throughout. Happily, once again I got off with nothing but a lecture.
