Got into Kansas City about 2:30 PM, devoured a hamburger, and then since my suit wasn't yet finished at the cleaners, I dropped over to the Public Library and read the play, "Stage Door" in which Merle has a lead. It was very enjoyable and had a great many fine lines. Speaking of plays I wish that I might have seen "Arsenic & Old Lace" which played in K.C. over the weekend. It was a riot, I guess. Dropped out to McKays about 7:30 PM. For the firs time since I have been going out there Mr. McKay was at home. He is a fine man - I liked him just as well as the rest of the family. After some chit-chat with the folks Merle & I went out for awhile. Dropped into a place on the south side where a couple of drunks recognized me & quite noisily said so. Seems if we hadn't beaten Notre Dame I would have been a better guy. It had been quite some time since I had been recognized & accosted in this manner: Seemed like old time for a
