- doesn't even speak to me - but, nonetheless, his action & speech impress me. Can't say the same for many boys I have met in this service. The sgt. who gave the lecture on guard duty answered his own question of what happened to a man who shot an intruder in line of duty - eg. shooting a fellow who refuses to halt. First, he is summoned before a summary court martial, fined 1.06, sent to another base, and probably promoted. The 1.00 fine is to prevent him being tried by any other court in the country, and the 6¢ is for the shell used. How accurate all this is I don't know? Saturday - Feb 7. Not much doing today - just more routine. In the morning we drew the ground school textbooks we shall need, and the listened to a lecture on the use of a riot gun (sawed-off shotgun) while on guard duty. The sgt. in charge had us all load the gun & then remove the shells without firing. I'm no Dan Boone with a gun, but some of these guys scared me stiff by the way they handled it - many of them must never before have
