touched firearms. We also had a little field day workout - not as bad as in K.C. but, nonetheless, irksome. In the afternoon we just hung around waiting for word on whether we were to get liberty. About five oclock the final decision was that no one was allowed off the base regardless of what uniform a man might have. This is the second weekend in a row this entire base has been restricted. Looks like a lot of foolishness to me. A few of us did get off from 6 to 10:15 PM to play a basketball game. As a matter of fact about 25 men went off the base, but, of course, very few showed up at the Y.M.H.A. where we played. What a night - a good deal of festivity preceded and followed the game - even during the game itself. We weren't very well organized and were beaten 21-17. Its the 1st game I can recall in which I only played two quarters, & the second in which I didn't get a field goal. It was a lot of fun, though, and it was good to get some exercise again.
