Saving...
I'll be all set to leave for Pensacola on Mon. Incidentally, there is a Marine Sgt. here who came from Pensacola. He tells me they will probably keep me down there all through the fall for the football team--even though I may get my commission in June or July. I definitely would not like that! The Cap't Johnson who called up by phone last Sun. came aboard at noon to see me. Upon seeing him I did recognize him as an interne at the S. U. I. hospital who used to hang around the practice field He was more cordial and wanted Ken & me to go back to the officers club at the La Guarde Hospital with him. Too bad we can't get off. It is worse, though, not to be able to get off the base to see Harry Bremer. He is staying at the Roosevelt Hotel in New Orleans for a few days before going to Florida. He offered, even insisted, that he take us out to Antoines in the French quarter with all the trimmings. He says he will stay over till Sat. night if we can get out then - here's hoping. Never had seen a place where the student officers so flagrantly take advantage of their positions - favoritism, partiality, drinking
