Saving...
fireplace, or a bed with lots of covers. Saturday - Feb 14. (St. Valentines days - patron saint of lovers - which still leaves me outside the fold - how sad.) Feel a bit rankled today. The first think I saw as I came down the ladder was my name on the watch list for Sat. night - also Haugebaks and Ledbetters. Rather unfair, inasmuch as we all had guard duty Thursday night. Evidently, the student officer who makes up the list decided the older students, those of his class, should get the weekend off. The new class on any base always gets the shaft- weekend watches and worst cleanup details. We all had to turn to again for an hour this morning, putting the finishing touches on the barracks & grounds for the Captain's inspection. At 9:45 A.M. we mustered for inspection. Then the blasted skipper let us stand on that concrete for one hour and forty-five minutes before he showed up. Inspection wasn't over until noon- what a dismal morning.
