The main things I'll remember about this base are the all too frequent watches, and the dirtiest silverware I have seen anywhere. I am plenty glad we are pulling out for Pensacola Monday. Have been so busy that I haven't heard whether Singapore has fallen or not. Do know, however, that it is generally believed to be only a matter of a little while. (This war is apt to be long, costly, bloody beyond any anticipations - all because of lack of foresight the world over. When will we learn!) Sunday - Feb. 15 It started raining about 2 AM. this morning & has kept it up most of the day. The boys on watch early this morning got drenched. Did nothing but lie around and write a few letters today. Hope that we get a chance to look N. Orleans over Mon. night before leaving for Pensacola. Churchill spoke this afternoon, but I didn't know it until after he had finished. Once again he had to explain defeats & reverses, bolster & encourage. How
