Saving...
Tues. Feb. 17. Arose rather late, dashed off a letter to Merle, grabbed a bit to eat and away we went again. Pulled up at the Pensacola Base gate at 11:55 - just five minutes to spare. We were due in at noon exactly. The buildings, hangars, etc are quite a long ways back from the main gate. The ensuing drive to the base proper reminded me of a national park - pretty country, fine trees, asphalt roads. The central area of the base including barracks, classrooms, officers quarters, hangars, & all the other buildings are arranged in such a way as to remind one very much of a college campus. More bldgs and closer together, to be sure, but similar to college grounds, nonetheless. We had chow right away, and very good it was, then started the familiar routine of checking in which will take two or three days at this base, I understand. My assigned roommate is Jack Wright, one of the left wingers from K. C. His home is in St Joseph
