Wed. - Feb. 18. Continued checking in today and also got measure for the G.I. blue uniform. Was notified that my physical exam would come on next Friday morning. Met a few more boys from up in Iowa and a good many other fellows who have mutual friends with me. No trouble getting acquainted and making new friends. Wyman Hayward came up to the room around noon today. Hardly recognized him has has matured so much since last I saw him. We had a fine visit for 20 minutes or so. Have been amused by two common expressions on this base - "has he got the word", meaning does he know what's going on, is he "hep" to everything, and the other - "he is a little too eager," meaning too great an effort at being military, too much use of authority, etc.
