comfort and muscular & thought efficiency. My reaction was about normal, I guess. Am all in favor of oxygen masks, however, it helps a lot. Went out for baseball around 4 oclock for the first time. Hadn't had a baseball suit on in five years, but wasn't long in getting the feel. It was good to toss the old apple around again - now if I can only hit. Received 8 letters today, the ones sent to New Orleans having finally caught up. It was fine to hear from the folds back in Iowa - McGrave, Ashby, etc. Wednesday - Feb 25 Followed regular class routine in the morning. In the afternoon we spent 3 hours at the gunnery range. First, we listened to a j. g. by the name of Atkins on the imp. of gunnery and how we were here to learn to kill and not just pleasure. He tried to make it sound pretty grim but somehow he wasn't very impressive. Perhaps it was because he didn't look inherently tough himself. Having been
