27 Monday Oct 9" Continued,, Just as we were leaving Talladega the Commissioner from Iowa Arrived for the purpose of taking the Vote, a Mr Burnside. Co.s C, I, & F. are gone so there will be onely 7 Companies to vote. as He wont come to our Remote Station. I Received by mail tonight one letter from Mrs C.J. Henderson of Date Sept 21"/ 65 Dr Mess for Sundries at Talladega 5.00 The Country is very poor along the Road from Talladega & Coveree with Stunted pine Timber, but it must be very healthy as I See the most robust looking men amongst those Hills I have Seen in the South (Vertically, at left:-) Capt D. W. Reed Came into Mess with Brown, Hutchin Jordan Henderson & Henderson Oct 9"
