62 Center Ala Nov 9" 1865 Thursday I attend Court to day hearing the Case where three young men were Indicted for Seizing property while in Military Service and acting under Orders of their Capt as was proven by the Witnesses Some very good pleading was done for the Defendants by Whitlock, Ramsey & Cooper, Lawyers of Center. But it was unnecessary as a Soldier knows no law but the order of His Officer whom He is sworn to obey. Judge Haroldson Charged the Jury, when they retired & soon returned the Verdict (Vertically, at right:-) Not guilty
