White Sugar and lastly add half an Ounce of Lemon Juice which is a Meat Spoonful - Oct 17th 1829 - For a Sore Mouth Mary Stewart Three or four roots of House leek - cut small and put into a Pint of Water with as much vinegar as will make it sharp acid brown Sugar boil it gently for an hour - them strain it through Muslin and bottle it for use - it is an excellent gargle - If the above is too sharp - and the Mouth requires healing & soothing - pound some House leek in a Marble Mortar - and strain through Muslin - then boil the juice with some thick Cream - hold this in the Mouth awhile and spit it out - Use a pipken for these in preferince to a pan -
