To cure Deafness - from Mrs Grorllis Prescription Book extracted by J Durrell Put a tablespoonful of Bay Salt into near half a Pint of Cold Spring Water and after it has steeped therein for 24 Hours (now & then shaking the Phial) cause a small teaspoonful to be poured into the Ear most-affected, every Night when in bed, for seven or eight successive Nights. observing to lay your head on the opposite side; by which the Cure is generally completed - Mrs. Reeks method of making English Noyeau - (Portsmouth) Blanch three quarters of a pound of bitter Almonds & cut them each into three peices, putting them into a glass Bottle with one Gallon of English Gin, and let stand in the Sun a Week or Ten Days, shaking the Bottle twice a Day; then add four Pounds of the finest lump Sugar pounded, and repeat the above process - it must be filtered through some blotting Paper, afterwards it is fit for use or may be put into smaller Bottles and kept till wanted - A sovereign Cure for the Rheumatism anoint the parts affected with this disease with some Brass Lacker, using a stiff Painter's Brush for that operation - The Brass Lacker is made of rectified Spirit of Wine & Gum Landarah
