Scotch Woodcock /225/ Upon two or three Slices of well buttered toast chop 6 or 8 anchovies, then pour over it very hot, half a pint of good cream mixed with the yolks of 6 eggs - The Eggs and Cream must only be simmered if the boil an instant they will be entirely spoilt. MGK 1838 - /226/ Bread Jelly for an Invalid - Take the crust of a S-loaf, then cut the crumb into thin slices, & bake them well of a pale brown, then put them into three pints of water, & let it boil gently till you find it congeal which you will soon know by holding some of it in a spoon, then strain it carefully, or the Jelly will be thick, sweeten it to your taste, & add lemon peel, white or posh wine or brandy in what proportions you please - WGK 1838
