We marched right the same road that we did when we went to the Gap. It is rather cold weather here this morning for this Country, but pleasant. It has just cleared off from a very heavy rain storm and is some muddy. We are within about 2 1/2 miles of Fairfax, when we marched from here we were ordered to leave our knap sacks & every thing but a change of shirts and drawers left our dress coats too. I left my house wife & towel & two pairs of socks & some other trinkets. We get our knapsacks & every thing all safe. I think we shall go into winter quarters near here it looks to me like it now but don't know, yesterday we put into it and fixed
