it so I paid her, & thanked her too, then started for my post Deloss & I & George Mason & some you don't know was on the post. when the boys saw me coming they laughed & said bully for Grout, you see the rest of the Strange boys played they had no money & you see they could not play that on us so we eat the bread ourselves & as It happened I had about a half pound of butter which come very handy on our bread. when we ate our bread Deloss he tried his luck on buying hoecake he went up there & got the old Lady to bake him some hoecake & he sit down to their table & ate them, which he said was good (turn to Chapt 2)
