You had better go home whenever you get ready and not wait for the trunk. We have just received an order compelling the officers to pay cash down for their provision in place of paying at pay days consequently I will need all the money that I am keeping for myself. The 40 and 57 [illegible] have not been paid yet consequently [illegible] hhas not started home yet as he cannot go until the officers of their Regts get their pay so as to pay him. Our Brigade has just started out after forage with 3 days rations as forage has become so scarce that it cannot be got in one day. For the 1st time since I rejoined the Regt. after being at home I am not going with them as I wanted to go to the Express office. I asked leave to remain and it was granted. E.J. Loveless was in our camp a day or two since but I was off on duty and did not see him. I am well. I received a letter from [Ian?] last night which was just one month on the road. Write soon Andy
