Misses Orrila and Nancy Davis My dear little daughters I am glad to address you a few lines this beautiful Sunny Sunday evening and only wish I could Spend awhile with you in a pleasant walk but then I cannot therefore I do not fret about it but await and hope for the good time comeing when I will be able to walk with you all the time I am glad to hear that you are both going to School and hope you will be attentive and learn as fast as you can so that you will soon be able to write me plenty of good long letters. And I expect when I come home to find you both growed to be almost women and hope to find you as good Schollars as any of your age in town therefore be good girls and do not disappoint me And I want you to take some corner of the garden and plant something in it for me and attend to it yourselves and see how nice you can make it grow I dont care what you plant but plant something and call it yours And also plant some nice flowers in the yard somewhere and attend to them yourselves so that you can learn how. Tell Ma. that I hope to be able to eat more Potatoes at home before potatoes grow next year then what she can raise from one potatoe. I am Sorry to hear that Dolly is so cross but I hope she will soon have all her teeth through and then she will not be so cross. One other thing I want you to do and that is to keep some nice flowers growing on your little brothers grave and see how nice you can keep it. Well it is now time for Dress parade so I must close for this time. Give my love to Grand Ma. No more this time from your affectionate Father A.F. Davis
