the details which always went to prove that our forces got the worst of the battles I am naturally prone to look on the bright side of things and have hurrahed for Hooker loud and long within the last 5 days but I am fearful that I have been hollering over Spilt milk but I hope not. I believe that McClelland Pope. Burnsides and Hooker are all good men and able Generals but then the question is. is not Lee a little too good a General for any of them. I will still say hurrah for Hooker for a few more days at least. The way that Banks in Louisana and Stoneman between Richmond and Fredericksburg has been useing the enemy has not left the Rebs in as good condition as they ware 3 weeks since by a long Shot even if Lee has gained a victory over fighting Jo. So that I can say hurrah for us any way and Still say the Rebs will have to knock under within the next six months We are still anctious for Bragg to call on us here but dont know whether he is going to do it or not, The health is still excellent and we are haveing quite a cumfortable time. We have been hauling Cedars more or less evry day for over a week and now have our camp to look like a regular Cedar Thicket. I have ten set out around my tent and then a lot of the brush piled on the top to keep the sun from making it so hot, and now I have very cumfortable quarters. The boys last Saturday went to work and built a large Booth or Ampitheater in front of the Col Quarters for a church. It is built in a circle and covered over the top and is about 60 feet in diameter and in the centre is a Stand erected for the preacher. Then it is all well supplied with Seats and ornamented outside
