Yesterday when I had written to the bottom of the preceeding page we ware called out on Division Drill and remained out until dark so that I did not get to send or go to the Express Office and have not time to go this moring before mail time, therefore I cannot tell whether the Sword has come or not, The weather has been most beautiful for some days past and sometimes rather warm for cumfort. Last night it rained a pleasant spring Shower and is very pleasant this morning. I am glad to hear that you had your Sistern finished. I wish you would buy me a No 1 good Silk Handkerchief of a dark color (mostly red) and not too large and put it in an envelope and send it to me by mail. I need one badly and can get none here. There is a great many such things comes here by mail, and among others I know of several prs of Boots and Socks which have been received in that way. I received a letter from Nick Davis three days since but no news of importance. Cap McKinney when last heard from was made to leave his room. The order to mount the members of the Roll of honor has been countermanded from the War Department therefore we the honorable elite of the Army of the Cumberland must go on foot as of yore In thirteen more short months then look for me home certain if not sooner, and you know that time will come around after a while if it does seem long. Does Simon McKee live in Liberty if so when did he move there and what is he doing. My Love to yourself, the children and Mother and my best wishes for all others. Hoping to receive a letter from you by todays mail I will close. Your affectionate Husband A.F.Davis
