Murfreesboro Tenn May 22nd 1863 Mrs. Sarah Davis My dear wife Yours of the 13. & also of the 17th is now before me and I will now try to answer both in one The one of the 13th come to hand 3 or 4 days sice but I am Still looking for my Sword but it does not come, neither does the letter come in which you tell me when you Started it So that I have nothing to base my enquiries on So as to try to hint it up. Now I want you to go to the Agent in Liberty and tell him to take the proper Steps to have it hunted for if it is lost it is by their carelessness, for there has been no trains captured or destroyed by the enemy or any othe causalaty Since it was Sent. I am Sorry to hear that you have suffered so much with your teeth and have lost So many of them. I am glad to hear of your haveing such a good prospect for a good garden and only hope it will fill all your expections and that I may be able to get home Some way or another to help enjoy it. It must either be larger than I thought it was or els you have a Small yard to be able to have room for So mutch. Speaking of gardening Gen Rosecrans is doing something in that way He has one of 100 Acres near Nashville and one of 50 Acres at Gallatin in which are planted all Kinds of Vegetables which he intends for the use of the Hosptials. They are worked by convalescent Soldiers and Contrabands and So far is proveing a perfect Success. The 10th Indiana have one of 10 acres which is flourishing condition where they are Stationed on Stewarts creek. The 9th Ind also has one of 10 or more acres on Cripple creek which is
