all his Siege guns and camp equippage and a large amount of Comisary Stores at Tullahoma besides Stores of different kinds and Several pieces of cannon at Shelbyville and Manchester and has already taken 5000 prisoners and hundreds are comeing in and surrendering evry day who are mostly from Tennessee and Kentucky who swear they will never cross the Tennessee River with Bragg. Had it not been for the heavy rains this would have been one of the grandest movements of the war. I left my trunk and the things I brought for the boys at Murfreesboro and do not know when they will be brought forward consequently I have neither pen nor ink to write with and have to borrow paper to write on which is very Scarce therefore this will be short. Nothing Said because I was a few days behind time Boys all well as usual and in good spirits. Have just heard that Lee is badly whipped and Longstreet dead Hope to God it is true but fear the news is too good Tell Henry Husted to consider me in for the race as I heard something after I saw him that decided me to go in. I will write to him as soon as I get paper &c and post him up a little as soon as I can I will write to you again and hope to be able to write an old fashioned long letter Write soon and direct to Murfreesboro.
