Tell Mrs Macy that John can talk as well as he ever could and is as proud of it as a little girl with her first doll or a woman with her first babe The health of the Regiment is most excellent and this morning there is not one on the sick list in Co. 'I'. On the 21st inst we moved our camp about 2 miles and are now on the South Side of Elk River and 2 miles from Pelham and are situated immediately at the foot of the mountain and it is a very pleasant camp The weather is very pleasant and not so warm as it would be ware we more in the open country. There is only our Brigade here. the rest of the Division is back at Hillsboro 9 miles from Pelham, There is no enemy near us that we know of only a few bushwhackers, and we are captureing more or less of them evry day. And still there is yet a good many of Braggs Deserters comeing in. Where Bragg has gone I know not but one thing is certain, we have driven him and his Army entirely out of Middle Tennessee,. I am finishing this on Sunday morning July 26, and it is now mail time so I must close, My Love to all Write often. Your affectionate husband A.F.Davis
