Camp near Pelham Tenn Aug 12' 1863 Mrs. Sarah Davis Dear Wife Yours of the 5" inst come to hand yesterday and I was glad to hear from you. and also to hear that you had received the money which I sent, you in care of Mr Scott. But there was one thing I must acknowledge that very much surprised me and that was that you had not paid the money which you borrowed of J.R. Phemis. as you wrote to me when I last sent you money before, that you was going immdediately to pay it and as you said nothing about it while we ware talking of money matters while I was at home it never entered my mind but what it was paid long before, While I was at home I was talking
